About

GoReadyPrep is a survival and preparedness gear store. We started it because the existing prep market wasn't doing what we needed.

Why I started this

I started looking for a real bug-out bag a couple of years ago, after a tropical storm warning made me realize my plan was about three Amazon orders deep. The pack I bought from a "tactical" brand had a strap that tore on the first test walk. The water filter was a re-labeled import I couldn't track to a manufacturer. The freeze-dried meals had calorie counts that didn't match the bag's net weight. I sent the whole order back.

Then I made a spreadsheet. Then a longer one. Friends asked which power station to buy, then which water filter, then what actually goes in a 72-hour bag. The spreadsheet kept growing. This site is that spreadsheet, written down properly.

If you've been burned by off-the-shelf prep gear, this is for you. If you haven't been burned yet but you're looking, this is also for you.

How we operate

We're small. Every product here was picked by someone on the team. Nothing reaches the shelf without our review.

We test what we can. When we haven't tested something, we say so on the product page.

We don't carry products we wouldn't buy ourselves. The shortlist is small on purpose: a few items per pillar, each one defensible. When something doesn't hold up in the field, it leaves the catalog.

The three pillars are how we sort the work of being ready.

GO is mobile gear that lives on your back or in your car. READY is home systems for when the grid blinks. PREP is long-term continuity for when the timeline stretches past 72 hours.

Who's behind this

GoReadyPrep is a brand operated by CleverNRG LLC, a New York–registered company. CleverNRG is the billing entity for several brands; this is the prep one.
